Jada Pinkett Smith reveals she has been separated from Will Smith for 7 years

The revelation comes with the release of her latest book, “Worthy”, in which Jada Pinkett Smith opens up about her marriage and personal life. The couple, who married in a low-key ceremony in 1997, faced challenges early on, as Jada unexpectedly became pregnant with their son Jaden shortly after their wedding. At the time, the relationship was new and complicated, as Will Smith had recently divorced his previous wife, Sheree Zampino.

Jada confesses in her book that she completely abandoned her mental health the moment she met Will. “I was so intoxicated by him and our dynamic. I really felt healed.” This revelation includes the fact that she stopped taking her medication, describing Will as “the drug” to which she became addicted. The story begins with a call from Will to Jada asking her who she was dating. To her response that she was single, Will replied, “Well, you’re dating me now.” Jada reflected on this moment and said, “Can you believe I fell for that?”.

Pinkett Smith has previously mentioned her polyamorous relationship with musician August Alsina on her show Red Table Talk, but until now, the split had not been discussed in detail. “We’re still figuring it out,” she expressed in her book. “We’ve been doing very hard work together. We just feel a deep love for each other and we’re going to figure out what that looks like for us.”

For his part, Will Smith faced harsh consequences for his reaction to slapping Chris Rock at the Academy Awards, including a 10-year ban from attending Academy events. The actor issued a statement about the incident, saying, “Violence in all its forms is poisonous and destructive. My behavior at last night’s Oscars was unacceptable and inexcusable. Jokes at my expense are part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me and I reacted emotionally.”
