Among actors, the trend is to dress like the character they play in their latest film when promoting it at premieres, press conferences and red carpets. They call it method dressing (read Margot Robbie and her Barbie), and that’s what Jenna Ortega has been doing since she started her tour to present Bitelchús Bitelchús, the new film by Tim Burton. Or not so new, because it is the second part of Bitelchús, the horror and fantasy comedy with which we were thrilled at the end of the 80s.
The fact is that the American Ortega, who was already enigmatic and dark in the series Wednesday, is emulating some of the outfits that her fictional mother, Winona Ryder, wore in the first Bitelchús. And she is once again acting as a modern gothic muse. In one of those outfits, at a dinner in New York‘s Midtown this month, she stood out not only for her black satin bias skirt, black blazer and tight black and white top. She also stood out for her watch: a Hublot that fit her like a glove.
The actress is not one of the Swiss watchmaker’s ambassadors, so we understand that she wore it as a personal choice. The Classic Fusion Orlinski Bracelet in titanium, which debuted on the market in 2022, is the result of a collaboration between Richard Orlinski, one of the best-selling contemporary French artists, and Hublot.
Orlinski‘s pop and geometric world merged for the first time with watchmaking in 2017, offering models that look like sculptures. This is also the case of the piece worn by Jenna Ortega: a watch whose edges, bevels and facets fit perfectly with its case, black ceramic dial and crown. The titanium bracelet is made up of 83 pieces that play with the reflections of their polished facets, creating a mirror effect, and is set with diamonds, just like the case and bezel. The H-shaped links are reminiscent of the Hublot logo.
This unisex model, measuring 40 mm in diameter (i.e. large by women’s standards), is automatic, with three hands and a power reserve of 42 hours. In 2022, it was priced at 44,500 euros. Currently, the same reference is not available on the company’s website in Spain. However, with the price rises of recent years, it will probably now cost a few euros more in other points of sale.
