Jil Sander brought to Milan his latest proposal for FW23 composed of his signature formal wear approached from a futuristic perspective, and inspired by biker garments.
The collection is led by Luke and Lucie Meier, the creative directors of Jil Sander, who have been able to bring the brand to the forefront even in the closet of basics, always focusing on the importance of materials. Talking about their latest proposal, the duo tells that it is a work of customization where sportswear, denim and haute couture coexist, even exchanging the materials with which they are made.
The fashion show they brought to Milan Fashion Week took place in a warehouse decorated with quilt-covered seats, creating a comfortable atmosphere, and each guest found a seasonal T-shirt on his or her chair.
The firm launches a look to the future and in turn is composed of a minimalist air for this range. The song “All Neon Like” by Bjork accompanied the collection composed of colorful leather looks, biker jackets with contrasting sleeves, tailored jackets featuring metal zippers instead of buttons, and maxi dresses printed with floral graphics. Oversized handbags and knobbly-soled sport boots accompany the main garments.
The brand’s signature formal wear did not lose its elegant delivery, while other looks were composed of feather-filled coats and prints of bananas and cherries. Also completing the collection were billowy ensembles that contoured the body’s natural shape by adding puffy elements. Lucie and Luke Meier have wanted to undo defined styles and genres with this latest proposal.
