Jonathan Anderson has done it again. After filling the catwalks with animal reminiscences – from frogs to puffins and penguins – the British designer has decided to take an unexpected turn. Instead of continuing with his personal zoo, he now brings us an accessory that is quite the opposite: bags in the shape of houses. Because if there’s one thing Anderson knows how to do, it’s to take the everyday to a level of total art. And this time he has taken it to real estate. Who said that houses couldn’t be the ultimate accessory?
JW Anderson’s new bags, which are already taking the online shop by storm, are truly hand-embroidered mini havens, with details so meticulously detailed they look like something out of an architectural dream. One comes in shades of brown and white, with ‘I’m living in a dream’ windows, while the other is dressed in cream with flower-filled windowsills, as if it were the most photographable house. Both versions, of course, carry the signature touch: a central door with JW’s nautical iconography. A detail of home, but with the soul of haute couture.
These bags are as functional as they are exclusive. Short leather handles, detachable leather straps, a zip with the JW logo as a finishing touch and silver hardware that screams ‘only for the few’. And the bamboo lining… yes, because if there’s no sustainability, it’s no JW Anderson. You can pre-order these little portable mansions from the online shop now. But you won’t receive them until 22 December. And as if that wasn’t enough, rumour has it that by spring 2025, Anderson will launch a ready-to-wear line inspired by his own home.
