The first Paris Fashion Week has been held without the iconic designer Paco Rabanne, and Julien Dossena, at the helm of his eponymous brand, pays tribute to him by revisiting his most iconic designs.

It has been only a month since the legendary Spanish designer known as the “fashion metallurgist”, Paco Rabanne, passed away. At Paris Fashion Week, Julien Dossena, the firm’s creative director since 2014, wanted to remember the designer’s legacy on the catwalk.

At the Museum of Modern Art, attendees were able to enjoy the show that started with nice knitwear and long coats. The collection progressed with color, floral prints and eye-catching embellishments, including five surrealist-themed pieces inspired by paintings by Catalan artist Salvador Dalí, who was also a friend of Paco Rabanne. Lingerie lace dresses and cut-outs were also part of the FW23 collection.

As part of the tribute, the line included some of the most iconic looks from the designer’s career; seven variations of the iconic mini-dress of aluminum plates held together by rings were paraded. Some of these garments made metallic noises that accompanied the soft music in the background.

During the runway show, words spoken by the late designer were heard on a voice recording: “the role of clothing is to enchant, to provoke love in others, the love that is the mainspring of any activity,” which provoked even more emotion in the guests.

And talking about FW23… Don’t miss one of the highlights of Paris Fashion Week, Saint Laurent’s latest collection.
