Junya Watanabe AW23 goes all black

Junya Watanabe AW23 presented a collection full of collaborative designs, both new and from his archive. This was probably the single menswear show with the most collaborations.

The collection included collaborations with Oakley, New Balance, Timberland and Stepney Workers Club for shoes. Levi’s, North Face and Carhartt were joined by Brooks Brothers (for a blazer and shirt), Bates (a biker blazer jacket) and Mystery Ranch (a technical jacket). Other collaborations included Haglofs, Palace, Karrimor, Nanga, Alpha Industries and Champion.

Junya Watanabe AW23 was notable for being an all-black collection which helped it to have coherence. They included suits with double cuffs, as well as trousers with a punk aesthetic. The models also wore exoskeletal accessories inspired by Innerraum. After the suits, Watanabe expanded his line into oversized workwear silhouettes.
