Presented for the first time during KENZO’s FW25, menswear show, the collaboration between the Parisian maison and the legendary New York artist Futura 2000 has now taken full form. Much more than a capsule, this union condenses Nigo’s vision and Futura’s atomic aesthetic in a collection that kicks off the Fall/Winter 2025 season.
“Nigo asked me to reinterpret my atomic elements to make them dialogue with the KENZO flower. The chance to see my art in these pieces, with these fabrics, has been incredible. This collection is a celebration of our friendship of more than 25 years,” says FUTURA 2000.
At the heart of this collabo: the Boke Flower, one of KENZO’s most recognizable recent symbols, transformed under FUTURA‘s quick and edgy stroke. The other big gesture: the KENZO Paris logo, redefined through a raw, almost improvised approach, as if it had been scribbled on a Lower East Side wall.
There is one key piece that condenses the collision of these worlds: an all-over graphic animation where FUTURA’s iconic Atom motif merges with the Boke flower, creating a lively, energetic and kinetic pattern. Around it, an entire closet of reinterpreted essentials-sweaters with graphics that look like they’re straight out of a gallery, technical jackets that could be at a skatepark or a fashion show, and garments that speak the language of Nigo.
The campaign, signed by Jiro Konami, captures the spirit of the collection from an intimate location: the FUTURA atelier in New York. More than a lookbook, it is a documentary portrait of the connection between artist and designer. Real recognises real.
The KENZO x FUTURA 2000 collection is now available in physical stores and selected global retailers. If you’re reading this, you’re probably already late.
