Kevin Turen, producer of “Euphoria” and “The Idol,” dies at age 44

The producer of Waves, Malcolm and Marie and Pieces of a Woman passed away this weekend, although the cause is unknown at this time.

The American has produced the films X and Pearl, among others, as well as the controversial HBO series The Idol and Euphoria.

Turen studied film at Columbia University, and later pursued a career in Los Angeles. He founded Little Lamb Productions with Sam Levinson, with whom he had a close relationship and with whom he created the recent HBO miniseries The Idol, as well as with singer The Weeknd.

“Kevin was incredibly special, this world is going to be less without him,” his father, Edward Turen, said in a statement.

Jay Penske, CEO of Deadline’s parent company PMC and Turen’s close friend, shared, “Despite his many accomplishments in Hollywood, Kevin’s greatest passion was his family and friends. He was very proud of his children. He and his wife, Evelina, were determined that their children would grow up with great values and made sure they made a difference in the world at large. Our collective heart breaks for them, and we all feel a deep loss. Kevin will be greatly missed, and this city has lost one of its brightest rising stars today.”
