Following the death of the British artist, the man behind the infamous Sex Pistols covers and logos, Hiroaki Sueyasu has decided to pay tribute to his legacy, considering him his “starting point”.
In doing so, the Japanese designer has skilfully combined DIY-inspired embellishments, artisanal jacquard fabrics and bold prints to explore the intersection between primitive punk classicism and modernity in design, silhouette and the true essence of detail. This translates into ripped jeans, explosive colours, faded and deconstructed fabrics and imperative messages, while maintaining the unchanging punk identity and attitude. The brand has inherited this spirit of protest and rebellion, promoting the evolution of a modern and independent culture, respecting individuality through freedom and expression. Sueyasu thus returns to its origins, proclaiming rebirth and renewal for KIDILL.
“The loss of something I thought I would somehow experience forever is like a void. It was an unknown, but it also portrayed me. Although Jamie and the other notable figures who created early punk have left us, it is our duty to ensure that the essence of punk, which has influenced our time and our people in countless ways, lives on. They are timeless,” assures the designer.
