Kim Jones dives into the Dior archive for her new Summer 2024 collection

The Creative Director, who has been at the helm of Dior’s men’s line for five years now, delves into the Maison’s archives to rescue and update concepts and pay tribute to all the figures who have been part of the Maison’s legacy.

From the silhouettes of Yves Saint Laurent to the embroideries of Gianfranco Ferré. From the cabochons of Monsieur Dior to the textures of Marc Bohan. Kim Jones has taken an extensive journey through the history of Dior that seeks to celebrate each and every aspect that has made the Maison what it is today: one of the most successful and lauded luxury houses of all time.

Masculine and feminine meet in the new pieces that make up the Summer 2024 collection, which is full of tailoring, tradition, subversion, modernity, practicality and elegance at the same time. A selection of unique designs in which the archetypes of men’s fashion evolve and timeless codes are adapted. This is the case of the Harrington jacket, the polo shirt, the cardigan or the round collar, which are updated through iconic prints such as cannage, tweed, embroidery and colourful rhinestones.

On the other hand, the suit reinvented by Yves Saint Laurent is updated with volumes, slits, pleats and necklines. Summer ensembles and loose-fitting coats make their way this season to become wardrobe essentials, while more formal footwear takes its inspiration from the 1995 Lady Dior bag with a new circular logo. Sandals take on fluorescent colours to celebrate the arrival of summer, as well as leopard prints. Sneakers take on quilted shapes and are covered in tweed, while saddle and satchel bags are reinvented in a multitude of materials and shades that play on the borderline between formality and fun.

Of particular importance to the collection are the hats, meticulously designed by Stephen Jones and adorned with velvet flowers produced in China since the Tang dynasty. Elegant accessories full of colour and historical references that celebrate contemporary elegance like never before.

Once again, Kim Jones has done it again, and we have witnessed a unique show in which we not only discovered his new and amazing proposal but also celebrated his fifth anniversary in the house.
