Balenciaga’s new “Closet Campaign”, photographed and directed by Inez & Vinoodh, was unveiled just a day after Kim Kardashian was announced as the brand’s latest ambassador.
Over the years, Kim Kardashian has walked in Balenciaga’s 51st couture show, accompanied Demna at the 2021 Met Gala wearing a custom Balenciaga design, attended several Balenciaga shows and co-starred in several campaigns, and has just been named an ambassador for La Maison. Just one day after assuming the title, the businesswoman has starred in the brand’s first “Closet Campaign” of the year. Kim appears posing with the City Bag and in the background is her own wardrobe with her handbag collection.
Photographed by the iconic Inez & Vinoodh, the campaign also stars actresses Roh Yoon Seo and Nicola Peltz, model Paloma Elsesser, stylist Patricia Field and influencer Devon Lee Carlson. Each of the stars appears in front of her own wardrobe, holding Balenciaga’s City Bag. Designed in 2001 by Nicolas Ghesquiere, the Maison originally only approved the production of 25 sample pieces that were sent exclusively to fashion editors and models. Kate Moss publicly stated that the City was her favourite… and the rest is history.
In addition to the City Bag, which is the bag they want to promote this season, Le Cagole and Hourglass also appear in the “Closet Campaign”. In addition to the images of the brand’s stars dressed in their respective wardrobes, the campaign also includes a short social media video of Kim Kardashian. The billionaire plays a guessing game about how many designer handbags she has in her wardrobe. (For the record, she said 130. The correct answer was 129. That’s how close!)
