The film starring Kim Kardashian will be seen on Netflix. The platform has won the rights to the comedy The Fifth Wheel, for which plot details are unknown. All that is known is that Kardashian will be ‘The Fifth Wheel’ to which the title refers.
Paula Pell and Janine Brito are penning the script for the story, which will star a quintet of actresses. Pell, a Saturday Night Live alumna, wrote the Tina Fey and Amy Poehler comedy Sisters and previously starred in the Netflix film Wine Country. Brito, who is married to Pell, has credits that include the NBC sitcom Mr. Mayor. Both are involved in the Peacock comedy Girls5Eva, which moved to Netflix.
The project was pursued by several platforms and distributors, some of whom were even considering a theatrical release, but in the end it was Netflix that picked up the distribution rights to one of the first major titles to close a deal with a major studio in the wake of the actors’ strike.
