The French player participated in the new initiative by the OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation (OSELF).
Once again, Mbappé has shown that his vision goes far beyond the pitch, meeting with children from disadvantaged local communities and members of the Inspired by KM association. Together, they enjoyed a unique day with the Real Madrid star in Madrid, where the goal was clear: to raise awareness of the importance of eye health among young people.
During the event, attendees participated in eye examinations and received prescription glasses and sunglasses, learning about prevention and the effects of intensive screen use. In Spain, myopia already affects 19% of children between the ages of 5 and 7, and is expected to reach 30% in the coming years. This is a worrying figure which, according to OSELF, requires immediate action.
‘Good vision is essential for children, both at school and when playing sports. It helps them learn, play and dream big. The work done by the OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation and Oakley to provide better access to eye care is in line with the mission of my own association: “We care for everyone”,’ says the athlete.
‘Our goal is to give absolute priority to inclusion and equal opportunities. We firmly believe that no child should see their dreams frustrated by invisible barriers. By joining forces from Paris to Madrid, we strive to break down these barriers, educate and raise awareness among young people about the importance of their visual health, so that they can learn, thrive and reach their full potential.’
For Mbappé, visual health is just one part of a much broader mission: to inspire young people to keep their eyes on their goals. His collaboration with Oakley and OSELF brings together sport, inclusion and education under the same idea that true performance starts with seeing well.
