Laster Club, one of the pioneering projects in the capital’s electronic scene, presents an exhibition project next March at Matadero Madrid’s Central del Diseño, a space that, thanks to Laster Club, will become a meeting point for underground culture for three consecutive days. An ephemeral exhibition that will explore the scene of Europe’s techno capital through photography. An album with more than 175 personalities from Berlin’s techno culture that lands in Madrid for the first time thanks to the Madrid club.
A cultural event that will be completed with two special dates at Laster Club as an official space on the capital’s club circuit, which will continue the spirit of NACHTS on two days, Thursday 20 March and Saturday 22 March. Laster will pay tribute to the German scene, a benchmark in electronic and underground culture throughout Europe.
The most intimate look at underground culture by Mischa Fanghaenel, photographer and doorman of one of Berlin’s most iconic clubs, Berghain. A personal project that Laster presents exclusively in Madrid this spring, at the Central del Diseño del Matadero Madrid.
NACHTS
In NACHTS, the complex web of the German capital’s techno scene captures the multifaceted essence of its own experience. Each face presented serves as the script of an individual narrative, which collectively forms a rich mosaic. In the background of this vibrant diversity, one can sense a harmony that transcends the language, culture and background of each of these individual components as a common thread. This exhibition presents itself as a tribute to life itself, hedonistically celebrating the individuality of each of its participants and at the same time embracing the community that has been forged in the passion for music.
Mischa Fangahenel
Born in the shifting geopolitical space of Eastern Europe in the post-Soviet era, Mischa Fanghaenel’s journey as an artist and photographer reflects his life trajectory and evolution. His work seeks to reveal the vulnerabilities as well as the strengths and untold stories behind his portraits, encapsulating his own essence.
For more than two decades, Mischa has explored the language of photography, seeking models that emerge in contrast to his own universes. His work captures unexpected moments of beauty and peace, in the midst of the incessant and frenetic urban life. A work that Fanghaenel has developed alongside his journey on the Berlin club circuit, which has greatly influenced his artistic perspective.
He uses natural light to imbue his compositions with a timeless elegance reminiscent of classical art. His photographs are meticulously printed on aluminium, and possess a revealing clarity and depth that amplifies the suggestiveness of his subjects.
