After Lionsgate bought Entertainment One (eOne) from Hasbro for $500 million, it has officially announced that it will take over development of the movie based on the iconic 1935 board game.
“This sale fits perfectly with our strategy, and we are excited to move this project forward,” Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks said in a statement. “Lionsgate’s management team has extensive entertainment experience and is adept at creating value, and we are delighted to have found such a suitable home for our eOne film and television business. We look forward to collaborating with them, especially on the film adaptation of Monopoly.”
News about the possible Monopoly movie had been spreading for years, with high-profile names such as Kevin Hart and Ridley Scott associated with the project.
On the other hand, the fight between Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg will be streamed live on X.
