On the occasion of the 37th Louis Vuitton America’s Cup, the Louis Vuitton City Guide is dropping by Barcelona to pay tribute to the city. Surrounded by the sea and the mountains and tucked between the Besòs and Llobregat rivers, the city is a collection of 73 village-like neighbourhoods that give it a distinctive lifestyle and spirit. This bustling, bustling, generous and creative Mediterranean metropolis has not stopped reinventing itself since the 1992 Olympic Games.
The guest contributor for this first edition is Sergio Caballero, co-founder of the electronic music festival Sónar, who embodies the most inventive and visionary side of the Catalan city. Reflected in his playful gaze, the city reveals impressive contrasts, great tolerance and countless other assets, symbolic of its influence in all spheres. It is a culinary capital with markets, bodegas, original restaurants and tapas bars dominating the day and night scene.
It is a reference in modern architecture and contemporary art, a treasure chest for history buffs, a place of pilgrimage for football fans and sailing enthusiasts alike, and a craft epicentre for lovers of beautiful objects. A stage for lovers of electronic music and an undiscovered labyrinth for street art aficionados and lovers of reading. Its culture is its fortune, but Barcelona is not ostentatious with its riches.
Its unpublished catalogue of photographs by Pascal Aimar, a member of the Tendance Floue collective, reveals the extraordinary resources of this rebellious Catalan destination, from the most iconic to the lesser-known.
