Lucien Clarke rekindles DC Shoes’ cool flame

The designer and professional skateboarder debuts his own brand in collaboration with DC Shoes to give him back that reference status that represented him both in the skaterparks and on the streets during the 90s.

Lucien Clarke rekindles DC Shoes’ cool flame

Clarke presents the launch of his eponymous brand, DCV’87, in collaboration with skatewear label DC through an opening project in which they unveil a hybrid OG skate silhouette that features DC’s ‘Lynx Zero’ upper and ‘Lynx OG’ sole technology.

The model is dressed in two colorways in black and brown, inspired by its Jamaican and British roots. The designs feature tonal suede stitching running along the mudguards, ankle flaps and heels, while rugged leather and mesh enhance the lower panels.

DCV’87” is revealed through watermarks located on the tongues. The interlocking DC Shoes logo, embroidered on the crescents, completes the silhouette with a translucent Lynx OG outsole embossed with the following inscriptions: ‘I saw this coming’ and ‘This is not a f*cking game’.”

‘Our first project with Lucien had to do with the innate chemistry between DC’s heritage and his creative point of view,’ explains Michael Minter, Global Marketing Director for DC Shoes.’DC meets DCV’87. It just made too much sense, so we made it the starting point for what will be a series of exciting projects to come.’

In order to illustrate this drop with nostalgic nods, Clarke headed to his birthplace, Jamaica, to star in this campaign alongside fellow DC and Palace skater Kanin Garner in a shoot captured by photographer Julian Klincewicz.

The DC Shoes x DCV’87 collaboration will go on sale July 22 both on the DC Shoes website and at select retailers.
