Paris, the epicenter of sartorial magnificence, witnessed a dazzling spectacle when Ludovic de Saint Sernin unveiled his Spring/Summer 2024 collection. The iconic designer broke boundaries and dared all, captivating the fashion system.
Against a backdrop reminiscent of a celestial dreamscape, the catwalk of the Palais de Tokyo was transformed into a theatrical realm where fantasy created synergies with reality. Breathtaking silence filled the air as the fashion show began, unveiling the redefinition of contemporary fashion.
Ludovic de Saint Sernin was inspired by the delicate balance between light and dark, fusing contrasting elements to create a sublime universe of textures and silhouettes. A dichotomy of opulence and minimalism met harmoniously, illustrating the art of tension and contradiction.
The palette remained faithful to LdSS, mainly in muted and earth tones. Sensuality was expressed through strategic cuts, plunging necklines and transparencies. The designer’s exquisite craftsmanship was evident in every stitch, plus he collaborated with Swarovski for some pieces.
The accessories, the pièce de résistance of any Ludovic de Saint Sernin show, elevated the collection. The white brass jewelry was made in collaboration with New York-based artist Villarreal Vagujhelyi. Saint Sernin appeals to unabashedly queer design, through his fluid vision of gender.
Ludovic de Saint Sernin told the press after the show, “I wanted to do a reboot for this season and go back to what LdSS is all about. This collection, I think, is the quintessential LdSS universe, it represents ideas of beauty, sensuality, love and freedom and the message of daring to be yourself.”
Ludovic de Saint Sernin leaves the direction of Ann Demeulemeester.
