Maison Margiela inaugurates the Tabi Collector’s Series, a new line that celebrates its iconic split-toe footwear. The first edition, titled Broken Mirror Embroidery, is limited to 25 pairs. The piece reflects the house’s artisanal and experimental approach under the creative direction of Glenn Martens.

Each pair is hand-embroidered with more than 8,000 glass beads, sequins, and metallic fragments. This classic Margiela technique recreates the effect of aged and fractured glass. Its production demands the precision of 11 artisans, showcasing the brand’s dedication to craftsmanship and detail.

The ‘Broken Mirror’ motif originates from the Autumn/Winter 2015 Artisanal collection, created by John Galliano. At the time, it appeared on garments such as dresses and overcoats. Now, Glenn Martens brings the technique into the three-dimensional universe of the Tabi, merging the maison’s historical legacy with his contemporary vision.

To accompany the launch, Maison Margiela will present a film directed by Italian filmmaker Yuri Ancarani. The short traces the creation process of the shoe, from its initial concept to its final execution.

The Tabi Broken Mirror Embroidery will be displayed in selected stores from 30 October 2025.
