Mambo Creatives transforms its studio into an art gallery

With a vision to breathe new life into Madrid’s art scene, renowned creative agency Mambo Creatives has taken an innovative twist on its strategy by converting its studio into an art gallery. The transformation stems from the need to provide artists with a space to exhibit their work and connect directly with their audience. After a search for a space in Paris, where they were based, “the natural light of the city and the warmth of the Nuevas Galerías del Rastro (Calle Ribera de Curtidores 12) brought us back to our native Madrid,” Jaime Durán, founder of Mambo Creatives, tells Forbes España.

Thus, on Wednesday 6 March, the inauguration of ‘Le Chat Rouge’ took place, bringing together three outstanding artists: Miranda Makaroff, Belén Ordovás Lladó and Inés Ybarra. Between them, they engaged in a dialogue in which the limits between art and furniture design are blurred, playing with rugs displayed as tapestries (Miranda Makaroff), installations that take the shape of a rug (Belén Ordovás), or lamps with organic shapes that embrace the Casahari tables designed by Inés Ybarra. All curated under the eye of Salomé Prada (ex Lisson Gallery). For the moment, the show will run through the month of March with a possible extension until April.

From there, they will continue with a fashion project developed with a Latin American designer and will finish the season before the summer with a new exhibition centred on art. So it is clear that Mambo Creative is immersed, in terms of fashion, in the launch of Esteban Cortázar’s new brand, and developing a collaboration and upcycling with María Bernad that will be presented in Ibiza. Regarding music, “we are developing a project for Sonar Barcelona that will combine music and creativity. And our next stops in the art world will be at Frieze NY together with Tuleste Factory, and towards the end of the year in Riyadh”.

The Mambo Creatives gallery will be open to the public at the Nuevas Galerías del Rastro, Calle Ribera de Curtidores 12, 28005 Madrid, from 7 to 20 March 2024. Visiting hours are Monday to Thursday from 10 am to 6 pm, and on weekends by appointment through [email protected].
