Celebrating the New York designer’s comeback to the world of footwear.
Surprisingly, Marc Jacobs has set aside his theatrical imagery to reveal his more utilitarian side, presenting highly functional sneakers that consolidate the retro aesthetic as one of the trends of the summer.
Inspired by 2000s running, the 72 Spring moves away from the voluminous maximalism of previous silhouettes such as the Lazy Runner and Jogger. Instead, it opts for a more refined and streamlined structure, without sacrificing a rich layered construction. The upper combines mesh with technical panels, and the design is finished with colour combinations ranging from fuchsia with acid green to total black or a very special version in frayed denim.
There is an explanation for this evolution: Marc Jacobs has teamed up with Areté, an acclaimed design studio that has previously worked with big names in the industry such as Raf Simons, Stone Island and A-Cold-Wall. Now, it has embarked on a new collaboration that exudes intention, sophistication and vision in every detail.
