Chanel confirms Margot Robbie as the new muse for its iconic No.5 perfume. In a move that marks Marion Cotillard’s departure, the Australian starlet becomes the French brand’s new muse, accompanying the advert with a campaign that promises to be a talking point.
Although the full reveal of the Chanel No.5 campaign is scheduled for October, this change in the ambassadorial line-up comes as no surprise. Robbie has had a close relationship with the brand since 2018, when she became an official ambassador.
Her presence is nothing new: we saw her shine in Chanel’s Nuit Blanche beauty campaign before she took on this new role. The scent of Chanel No.5, launched in 1921, has transcended decades to establish itself as a true olfactory mainstay in the history of fragrances.
Over the years, other legends such as Nicole Kidman and Marilyn Monroe have made their mark as the face of the fragrance. In a statement following her appointment, Robbie said she was honoured to be part of this ‘impressive lineage of women’ associated with Chanel No.5, describing it as ‘one of the world’s most iconic fragrances’.
Chanel buys 25% of the watch brand Maximilian Büsser and Friends.
