On a stage designed by the artist Isabella Ducrot, the designer presented her haute couture collection in the gardens of the Rodin Museum in Paris.
A total of twenty-three dresses approximately five metres high took over the walls of the installation, which were inspired by the dresses of the Ottoman sultans under the title ‘Big Aura’ with the aim of emblematising a power that transcends the body.
It is this concept that, for Maria Grazia Chiuri, permeates haute couture, where designs are conceived for the specific body that wears them. It is for this reason that the reproductions are never the same, and a unique and captivating dialogue is established between shapes, textures, details and techniques.
For this Haute Couture collection, the designer has studied the aura throughout the Maison‘s history, embodying the essence of fashion and supreme excellence by taking as her starting point the La Cigale dress, designed by Christian Dior in 1952 and made iconic by its sculptural construction and moiré fabric. In doing so, he has reimagined some of the most coveted archival pieces to give them a contemporary yet equally elegant approach with imposing collars, wide skirts, exaggerated cut-outs and fluid materials.
An extraordinary journey that highlights the essence of Haute Couture.
