MARNI debuted for the first time at Paris Fashion Week with the Women’s and Men’s Spring/Summer 2024 Vol.2 collection. The show is part of a series of touring events taking the brand to New York in 2022 and Tokyo in February 2023.
MARNI’s journey continues… a journey that took us to a bridge in Brooklyn last autumn, to a paper coliseum in Japan this February; but which began in 2020, when we couldn’t leave home, but had to leave behind the way we thought about fashion shows forever. This year, the Milan-based fashion label has decided to present the SS24 collection at Paris Fashion Week.
MARNI’s Spring/Summer 2024 Vol.2 collection was presented specifically in a historic palace located in the heart of the city, at 51 Rue de l’Université, which was once the private residence of Karl Lagerfeld. In doing so, this would be the house’s first show in the French capital, reinforcing MARNI’s ambition to continue to expand the creative dialogues and connections among its growing community.
“Paris is a city that is well suited to flaneurs. A city where I forgot I fell in love for the first time and, by getting lost, discovered how to look. And a local; the home of a witness and devotee of the most ephemeral architecture of the real illusion that is fashion. In the city that calls it home; le ville baroque: Paris”, explains the creative director of the Italian brand, Francesco Risso.
The show was divided into two parts: the officewear pieces were shown in the main hall, while the outwear and floral prints were presented in the garden. From the Vol.2 collection we highlight the billowing cotton skirts, stripes, coats, checks, tank tops and flowers. Jacquard or patchwork fabrics in tanned leather, collaged flowers, transparencies and more.
