For the Fall/Winter 2025 Vol. 1 season, Marni reaffirms its artistic vocation through an exceptional collaboration with designers Olaolu Slawn and Soldier Boyfriend. This creative encounter, conceived as an artist residency in East London, gave rise to a collective exploration of identity, symbolism, and visual language.
The dialogue between the three artists, from diverse cultural backgrounds but deeply connected by a shared sensibility, was articulated around a series of visual works that served as the starting point for the collection. Satyrs, contemporary bestiaries, and dreamlike figures are presented as protagonists of a visual narrative that combines imagination with an implicit critique of social structures.
The residency culminated in the exhibition project “The Pink Sun,” presented by Saatchi Yates, whose imagery was subsequently incorporated into the garments through prints, embroidery, and graphic motifs. Thus, the works transcend the traditional canvas medium to integrate into Marni’s material universe, in an exercise in the convergence of art and fashion.
In this first installment of the collection, the artistic gesture is translated into a selection of shirts, shirt dresses, skirts, and men’s underwear in striped cotton poplin, decorated with symbols laden with meaning: tears, wolves, and flowers reinterpreted with an almost mythological approach.
The knitwear pieces, rendered in intarsia and with intense colors, evoke the texture of tempera and reflect the gestural energy of their creative process. Meanwhile, the brushed cotton garments—sweatshirts, T-shirts, and loose-fitting pants—are completed with hybrid accessories that reconfigure the silhouette of a tank top into a utilitarian object.
The result is a wardrobe with simple lines yet highly expressive power, where Marni’s aesthetic code is enriched through collaboration. The digital campaign accompanying the launch, shot at the historic Georgian residence on Princelet Street, situates the collection in a space steeped in symbolism and memory. There, Slawn and Soldier Boyfriend embody the aesthetic as a testament to a deeply authentic creative process.
From July 1, 2025, the collection will be available in Marni flagship boutiques, on marni.com, and at select retailers globally.
Marni and Francesco Risso conclude a significant milestone after ten years of collaboration.
