Marta De la Fuente boosts her artistic career with “Anís y Chinchón”

Marta De la Fuente (@martadelafr) presents Anís y Chinchón, a collection of 13 realist paintings that cover the last two years of work by one of the most promising and refreshing young talents in new painting. The exhibition will open on the evening of 2 February with a private gathering and will be open to the public over the weekend from 11am until 8pm.

The exhibition, which will take place from 2 to 4 February in the Tha House space, represents the definitive leap in Marta’s life, who after the success of her collaborations with Netflix, Bumble, Manolo Bakes and Sebastian Yatra has decided to focus fully on painting. The exhibition will be supported by Levi’s and will also include three of the brand’s iconic jeans that have been used as canvases by the artist.

Anís y Chinchón

The Anís y Chinchón collection revisits Marta’s memories and influences, recreating everyday scenes, sometimes folkloric and capturing the essence of her childhood and memories in a leap towards nostalgia, trying to return to happy days through her colours and brushes. His style is contemporary, his subject matter timeless.

Her paintings invite us to enter her film, where a lady with a pair of Nike’s plays the slot machine or two dark-haired retirees in a solarium play a game of chess in the Mediterranean sun.

Sometimes Marta is inspired by amateur photos taken with an iPhone 13 Pro; other times, by characters created by artificial intelligence, relying on a motley imaginary that fuses and updates the popular culture of the 90s and the rural aesthetics of the deepest Castile, where Marta spent her youth.
