Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid is expanding its next edition to five days. The event will take place from 18 to 22 March 2026, adding an extra day to the calendar announced weeks ago and confirming the participation of 30 designers.
In November, the organisation had already announced a change of dates, setting the event from 18 to 21 March. The aim was to avoid clashes with other European fashion weeks and to gain greater visibility among the press and buyers.
Now, MBFW Madrid is taking a further step by extending its duration in order to include more proposals within the official programme.
Higher demand and strong creative level
According to the organisers, the decision responds to a “record” number of applications, as well as to the particularly high creative standard of the projects submitted.
With this new format, the runway will be able to structure a broader programme, in which the Autumn/Winter 2026/2027 collections will be presented.
A repositioning strategy
The event is organised by Ifema Madrid, with the support of Madrid City Council. Within the same edition, the fashion week is therefore implementing two key changes.
In November, its creative director, Valentina Suárez-Zuloaga, explained that the new calendar allowed more time for preparation and helped to build a distinct identity for the event.
Meanwhile, Asier Labarga, director of MBFW Madrid since April, framed the redesign as part of a strategy to reposition the platform. The focus is on strengthening its ties with the industry and promoting actions with a real impact on business.
Fashion Committee
The addition of the fifth day has been agreed with the MBFW Madrid Fashion Committee, which the organisation credits with playing a key role in the event’s recent transformation.
Since the last edition, the committee has been made up of Ana Antic, Ana García-Siñeriz, Carmen de Terán, María Eugenia Girón, Patricia Sancho and Pepa Bueno. It is also joined by Asier Labarga, Valentina Suárez-Zuloaga and Arancha Priede, General Director of Trade Fair Business at Ifema Madrid.
With this move, MBFW Madrid, now extended to five days, aims to consolidate its new direction. The goal is to strengthen its appeal as a platform for Spanish fashion and to gain greater weight within the international calendar.
