Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid held its 82nd edition coinciding with the 40th anniversary of the runway. The programme once again positioned Ego at MBFWMadrid as the platform that connects the present and future of local design. Fourteen young brands presented their work through both showroom and runway.
The Ego space, located in Hall 14.1 of Ifema, brought together AAA Studio, Alameda, Byan, Conae, Crypta, Dafne Per Se, Devol, Etéme, Fátima Miñana, Guillermo Justicia, Kolonaki, Paola Molet, Santamarta and The Curiousers. It was not just a showcase. It also functioned as a point of contact between designers and the public in a context increasingly dominated by digital.
The proposals reflected very different approaches. Kolonaki worked from classic codes. AAA Studio embraced experimentation. The Curiousers presented a more narrative and colourful language.
While Ego focused on new languages, the main runway featured established names such as Palomo, Pedro del Hierro and Adolfo Domínguez. It also included Silvia Tcherassi, the first international guest, and extended activities across different points of the city.
Since 2006, Ego has held a unique place within the MBFWMadrid ecosystem. Rather than simply launching finished collections, it proposes processes.
