On the second day of Copenhagen Fashion Week, WOOD WOOD has set out to create a rave atmosphere for FW23, bringing us together in a common cause: to uninhibit ourselves and immerse ourselves in the creative vision of the new design team, consisting of Dominic Huckbody and Cecilie Engberg.
Entitled “Heaven Out Here,” the collection is a synthesis of the work of both designers in the fashion houses they come from. The pair have managed to organically forge an aesthetic that revolves around the niche subcultures that now permeate fashion’s diverse culture.
“We explored the ritual of dressing up and making a pilgrimage to join a congregation of strangers seeking the same thing: escape. Safe spaces and the sense of belonging this provides, along with the protection and preservation of these spaces remain imperative to our values as a brand.” Cecilie Engberg and Dominic Huckbody, WOOD WOOD Design Team
Creating their own particular paradise, WOOD WOOD combines business silhouettes with elements inspired by the Y2K aesthetic, creating the culture clash emblematic of the rave scene. The collection’s mantra “HEAVEN OUT HERE” appears on studded belts, beaded sweatshirts and football-inspired scarves, emphasizing the theme of coming together as a team. A message designed to last through the night out and beyond.
The men’s collection turns tailoring on its head with an aesthetic that is equal parts subversive, refined and rebellious. As for the womenswear, each garment makes a subtle nod to grunge. In short, WOOD WOOD AW23 is packed with party-ready styles.
And a surprise collaboration arrives in this new season for the brand. On the runway, WOOD WOOD unveiled its collaboration with Salomon. We leave the sneakers for you to see in detail in the gallery.
What did you think of the WOOD WOOD FW23 rave? Would you come back?
