This is a capsule collection that reinterprets Diesel’s iconic “D” monogram through Melissa’s radical, plastic prism.

Melissa reinterprets the iconic Diesel ‘D’ monogram

Melissa and Diesel team up in a collaboration that transcends the merely aesthetic to explore the limits of design, material, and identity. In this installment, both brands reimagine Diesel’s iconic letter “D” as a series of quantum silhouettes, functioning as visual artifacts and objects of contemporary desire. The offering materializes in three formats: a flip-flop, a platform, and a sneaker.

As is customary in Melissa’s creations, the pieces are handcrafted from Melflex™, the Brazilian brand’s patented material. But here, Melflex becomes more than just a support: it is transformed into a visual language, a surface molded by advanced technologies and a creative direction inspired by optical art, liquid geometries, and industrial structures.

The Quantum collection—a name that refers to the field of physics, but also to the idea of the intangible, the ever-changing—is presented as a visually powerful capsule. The Quantum Thong, a reinterpretation of the classic beach thong, is offered in transparent blue, bright red, deep black, and pale pink. Its compact and continuous shape evokes a soft and sensorial architecture.

The Quantum Platform takes the format of an open-toe mule and takes it to the extreme: the colors—red, electric blue, black, and translucent ice blue—create a chromatic play that defies visual gravity. This platform not only adds physical height but also discursive height; it is a piece designed for the urban scene but constructed as a functional sculpture.

The third silhouette, the Quantum Sneaker X, is presented as a closed-toe sneaker with a deformed design and cyber-fluid aesthetic. Available in transparent green, magma red, and charcoal black, this sneaker is an intentional anomaly within the streetwear universe: a manifesto of aesthetic and bodily fluidity.

In terms of color, the collection is built around a palette that Melissa describes as “liquid sophistication”: hues that change with the light and reveal hidden nuances based on movement. The result is living, tactile, almost biomorphic surfaces that interact with their surroundings and with the wearer.

This new collaboration is now available on the official Melissa and Diesel websites, as well as at select retailers internationally.
