Meryll Rogge takes over as Marni’s creative director

Marni opens a new creative chapter with the arrival of Meryll Rogge as artistic director. The Belgian designer, renowned for her nostalgic and experimental approach to clothing, takes over the helm following the departure of Francesco Risso, marking a new era for the Italian maison under the umbrella of the OTB group.

Winner of the ANDAM 2025 Grand Prix, Rogge is no stranger to the designer fashion circuit. Trained at the prestigious Royal Academy of Antwerp, her background includes heavyweights such as Marc Jacobs and Dries Van Noten, where she honed a visual language that combines vintage whimsy, contemporary craftsmanship and subtly irreverent romanticism.

Since founding his eponymous label in 2020, he has walked the runway in Paris, captivating with theatrical silhouettes, bold palettes and a deeply feminine sensibility without becoming literal. Her move to Marni is not a fortuitous move, but a clear statement: the future of fashion is written from emotion, identity and cultural transversality.

“I have long admired Marni for its independent spirit. To take on a role defined by such visionary creative directors is both humbling and inspiring,” Rogge said in an official statement. A respect for the heritage of the brand founded by Consuelo Castiglioni that does not prevent us from anticipating a DNA mutation in a Belgian key.

From OTB, the conglomerate presided over by Renzo Rosso, the choice was more than meditated. “Meryll impressed us with the sensitivity she brought to reinterpret the brand’s DNA. Her vision is global and encompasses all dimensions of Marni: from accessories to interior design and communication,” said Rosso. The message is clear: it’s not just about clothes, but about building an aesthetic ecosystem that connects with new generations without losing the artistic roots that have always defined Marni.

In a context where the change of creative directions has become almost routine, Rogge’s arrival stands out as organic and promising. The designer is not coming to imitate or to conserve, but to reinterpret with radical sensitivity one of the most singular houses on the Italian scene.

High expectations, yes, but also a solid base: a creator in full expressive maturity, an eccentric legacy ready to be updated and an industry hungry for authentic visions. The verdict? Marni is preparing for a new era: more cerebral, more poetic, and yes, probably much more subversive than we imagined.

Francesco Risso is stepping down as Marni’s creative director.
