Michelle Yeoh capped her career this year when she became the first Asian to win the Best Actress Oscar for her performance in Everything Everywhere All at Once. In 2023, the actress also won a Golden Globe and a SAG Award. The Malaysian-born actress has appeared in films such as “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon”, “Memoirs of a Geisha” and “Crazy Rich Asians”. She was also a Bond girl in the 1997 film Tomorrow Never Dies.
But that’s not all, Yeoh ends the year in style as an ambassador for Paris-based Balenciaga: “I am delighted to join Balenciaga as a brand ambassador. For me, fashion is an art form. It’s not just about a dress, it’s about self-expression, how you feel in it and the values you embody when you wear it; it’s a way of communicating my work and who I am to the world”.
To commemorate Yeoh’s appointment, Balenciaga enlisted British documentary photographer Platon. The photographer is known for portraying prominent, fashionable and revolutionary personalities, as well as having photographed Balenciaga’s previous ambassadors, French actress Isabelle Huppert and Thai actor and model PP Krit Amnuaydechkorn.
