Miley Cyrus released her latest song titled “Used To Be Young” last Friday, August 25. This date carries with it a deep meaning for the artist for several reasons, and some of them related to her ex-partner, Liam Hemsworth. Despite having written the song two years ago, she deliberately wanted to wait until this specific date for its presentation.
August 25 marks a decade since that controversial show at the VMAs, where Miley Cyrus shared the stage with Robin Thicke and grabbed all the headlines. This day also coincides with the thirteenth anniversary of her first split from Liam Hemsworth in 2010. In 2013, on the same date, Miley released her hit song “Wrecking Ball”. The singer shared via her Instagram account that this song is a tribute to the youthful stage and its ephemeral spirit.
“I’ve spent the last 18 months painting a sonic picture of my perspective to share with you. The time has come to release a song that I could perfect forever. Even though my work is done, this song will continue to write itself every day. The fact that it remains unfinished is part of its beauty. That’s my life right now…unfinished but complete. Sincerely, Miley,” he wrote in a post on Instagram.
