Miley Cyrus is ready to shed her skin—again. Under the name Something Beautiful, the artist releases not just an album, but an emotional, cinematic, and deeply intimate manifesto. A 13-act pop opera that unfolds between music and film, with a raw and profoundly Miley-esque visual language.
The album, which will be released on May 30th via Columbia Records, is accompanied by a short film directed by Cyrus herself with Jacob Bixenman and Brendan Walter, presented as a “unique visual experience” that will officially premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on June 6th, and in theaters nationwide starting June 12th.
On Instagram, Cyrus posted a 23-second teaser that anticipates the project’s immersive aesthetic: dark atmospheres, emotional tension, and a visual narrative that accompanies each track as if it were an experimental film. In the background, the song “Easy Lover”—one of the album’s highlights—resonates with that perfect blend of vulnerability and strength that characterizes this new era:
“You make it hard to touch another / Anything goes when we’re covered / But you ain’t no easy lover.”
Poetic pop, conceptual glam
Produced by Cyrus herself alongside Shawn Everett, “Something Beautiful” is an exercise in emotional purification. There’s no gratuitous excess here. Everything is form, substance, meaning. From the interludes that cut and sew the sonic narrative to the collaborations that function more as performances than simple features.
Among the names that elevate the project are Brittany Howard (Alabama Shakes), who brings her cosmic force to “Walk of Fame,” and the iconic Naomi Campbell, who surprises with “All the Girls You’ve Loved,” a sharp reflection on love, power, and collective memory.
