Miley Cyrus talks about the exact moment she decided to divorce Liam Hemsworth

Miley Cyrus tells that “the decision was made” at the Glastonbury Festival in June 2019.

“Liam and I’s commitment to being married, of course, came from a place of love first,” the artist recounted. “But also from a place of trauma and just trying to rebuild as quickly as we could.” On the day of her Glastonbury Festival show, she was clear about her decision. “It was no longer going to work in my life to be in that relationship.”

“That was another moment where the work, the performance, the character, came first,” she said. “That’s why it’s so important to me [now]…that the human comes first.”

Also, at the time, the singer and actress received a barrage of infidelity rumors stemming from slut shaming, to which she replied in a statement:

“But the truth is, once Liam and I reconciled, I meant it and got engaged. There are NO secrets to reveal here. I have learned from all the experiences in my life. I’m not perfect, I don’t want to be, it’s boring. I have matured in front of you, but the bottom line is that I HAVE MATURED. I can admit a lot of things, but I refuse to admit that my marriage ended because of cheating. Liam and I have been together for a decade. I’ve said it before and it’s still true, I love Liam and I always will.”
