Miuccia Prada surprises us again. In her Spring/Summer 2025 collection for Miu Miu, the Italian designer invites us to explore early youth as a period of absolute truth, when authenticity has not been tainted by dissimulation. The proposal not only provokes, but also offers a critique of the overstimulation of our era.
The Palais d’Iéna was the chosen venue for the show on the last day of Paris Fashion Week, where Goshka Macuga’s installation ‘Salt Looks Like Sugar’ enveloped the atmosphere. As the fictitious newspapers of ‘The Truthless Times’ passed along a conveyor belt, the models displayed the key pieces of this collection that reinterprets classics in a subversive way. The artistic collaboration is no coincidence, as Miu Miu Women’s Tales has been fostering multidisciplinary dialogues between fashion and art for more than a decade.
Youth, represented as a period of brutal honesty, manifests itself in garments that oscillate between the nostalgic and the experimental. The micro shorts, tailored trousers and mini skirts typical of Miu Miu coexist with lace dresses and pieces that look as if they have just been taken out of childhood wardrobes, in a play of shapes and purposes. A white cotton dress, simple but loaded with symbolism, is just the starting point of a proposal that transcends conventions.
The joint work with Petit Bateau highlights this journey into youth, reinterpreting classic pieces for all ages. Unconventional gestures redefine common items: chemisette dresses are transformed into wrap-around bustiers, jumpers become tops, and twisted shirts break the rules to give life to new shapes. Everything in this collection is in motion, nothing is what it seems: nylon is silk and the everyday becomes extraordinary.
Miu Miu SS25 consolidates a universe of unique and fierce personalities, where garments act as armours of sincerity in a society overloaded with stimuli. The manipulation of normality is key: each garment is an assertion of individual character, in a Miu Miu uniform that is already fully consolidated. Here, each element is transformed, reconfiguring its purpose and altering its truth, as a reflection of unfiltered youth.
Little Sims and Cara Delevingne shine in Miu Miu’s FW24 campaign.
