MM6 Maison Margiela has launched its eagerly awaited Pre-Fall 2025 collection, an accurate response to the oversize aesthetic that dominates the current scene, the result of years of streetwear domination. With a focus on transforming the classic archetypes of formal fashion to suit the frenetic pace of modern life, the collection elevates to a bold, sculptural reinterpretation of the contemporary silhouette.
The distinctive shoulders, one of the house’s hallmarks since the 1980s, make a strong comeback in this new season, rescuing iconic archives that spill over into the lookbook as a tribute to the most luxurious roots of street culture. The loose fit is the undisputed protagonist, highlighting masculine cuts and wide blazers, while introducing a mix of unusual textures and garments that transgress the brand’s usual minimalism.
Flowing tailored trousers and blazers, reverse denim, oversized bags and washed garments, such as satin bomber jackets, offer a vibrant update on timeless basics. A white peacoat, a piece that harks back to the early days of MM6, becomes the turning point for an approach that defies gender categories, taking versatility to the extreme.
The hallmark of the collaboration with Salomon is still present, expanding into new territories such as wool jumpers that combine the best of both brands, consolidating a dialogue between high fashion and urban functionality.
On the women’s side, the Pre-Fall 2025 collection displays a series of boxy silhouettes that focus on movement, fusing the elegance of the modern woman with a touch of ‘mafia-wife’. Faux fur coats, XL leather bombers with silk detailing and flowing tops are the key to a collection that is all about fluidity and comfort without sacrificing sophistication. The white peacoat, now in oversize version, reinforces the versatility of the collection, adapting perfectly to any style.
