The Resort collection from Margiela’s experimental studio puts the focus on “subtle details and gestures that have the power to transform a garment,” according to the show notes.

MM6 Maison Margiela Resort 24’: a work of pragmatism and avant-garde

The disruptive label presents a collection that masterfully juxtaposes the casual and workwear aesthetics of the French house. The underlying intention of the sartorial composition is to draw resonance from the seemingly opposite, the discord through garments that are transformed and introduced in an incessant work in progress.

The season glimpses MM6‘s surprising use of traditional techniques in a contemporary version replete with gathered necklines, exaggerated pants, beige trench coats updated through haute couture, and square-cut blazers or vests cinched to the body, combined with parachute-style pants.

Within the collection, a whole sequence of sinuous pieces of deconstructed aesthetics or made in Tyvek shines: a silver, light and wrinkled fabric with which the firm builds innovative garments such as a prom dress with asymmetrical ruffles.

Keeping up with the series’ identity or transformative philosophy, baggy pants become XXL joggers with darts and knitwear is modernized through new designs. In parallel, the brand presents a redesign of its archival polka dot print in acid greens, purples and blacks that dress up garments such as flowing dresses or pleated skirts.

Accessories have just elevated the collection with a fourth installment of the XT-4 silhouette in collaboration with Salomon, and the Numeric bag, released last season, which returns in both mini and large versions, in black leather and shades of sage and lime green. Finally, its iconic anatomical shoe also returns in the form of green satin ballerinas or low boots with transparent resin heels.
