Naked Nails: this summer’s new trend in nails

The era of naturalness has arrived in the beauty universe, or at least apparently. The #NakedNails concept is in line with the “makeup-no-makeup” moment for a more discreet look.

Anyone who says that going to the nail salon every two weeks is relaxation therapy needs to be seriously examined. In fact, right now getting a manicure service is more of a luxury than a necessity. The good news is that TikTok has come up with a solution to ease our guilt about keeping up with the latest trends.

This 2023, short nails have had a really impressive comeback on social media, with artists such as Iris Law, Hailey Beiber and Jisoo leading the way for the natural manicure. While polish and gelish are still in use, a recent TikTok advocates forgoing polish altogether and, to the surprise of many, is going increasingly viral.

After noticing that several influencers on TikTok such as Alix Earle, Paige Lorenze and Tinx are wearing their nails super bare (i.e. no acrylic, gelish or regular polish), content creator @sydneyv.nichols posted a video declaring that 2023 is the summer of the naked nail trend.

In the video, she says, “I’ve seen a lot of people wearing nude nails,” then adds, “I’m so tired of going to a salon every other week to get a gel manicure. I decided in January that unless it was a special occasion, like a business meeting or a wedding, I was going to wear my nails bare.
