Native Instruments announces Traktor MX2, its new two-channel DJ controller optimised for Traktor 4 Pro. This launch reflects how DJing today has expanded beyond clubs and festivals. It adapts to new ways of creating and sharing music, from livestreams and impromptu raves to sets from home.

The MX2 retains the essential functionality of the Kontrol S2, but with updates that respond to the latest developments in Traktor 4 Pro software. It incorporates direct control for STEMs, access to pattern sequencers and a minimalist aesthetic overhaul that marks a change in the brand’s visual language.

Compact hardware, expanded features

Traktor MX2 stands out for its straightforward and portable approach. Its Mixer FX allows you to control nine effects from a single knob, and Deck FX offers more than 40 advanced effects, including delays, reverbs, flangers, and synchronised filters.

The RGB pads (16 in total) retain the classic hotcue and loop functions, but now add Pattern Player, which transforms the pads into a step sequencer for programming beats with different kits included in Traktor Pro 4. In addition, the controller allows tracks to be split into STEMs (vocals, drums, bass and instruments) for real-time remixing.

Understated, functional design

The redesign eliminates screen-printed lines on faders and potentiometers, prioritising a cleaner finish. RGB lighting is more discreet, and the transparent bottom casing lights up with the colour of the active deck, providing clear visual information — for example, when a track is ending or looping.

The touch-sensitive jog wheels retain the “Turntable” and “Jog” modes, but with a new all-black finish that reinforces the minimalist aesthetic of the whole unit.

High-quality audio and updated connectivity

The MX2 integrates a 24-bit/96 kHz audio interface and uses USB-C for improved compatibility and connection speed. It includes full support for Traktor Pro 4 and iZotope Ozone Maximizer technology, which maintains a consistent and clear output level.

As part of the launch, Native Instruments is offering two months of free Beatport Streaming subscription for new users, providing access to millions of tracks directly from the platform.

The Native Instruments Traktor MX2 is now available for £399 from authorised retailers.
