‘The Bed, The Room, The Rain and You’ is a song that serves as the latest single in advance of the imminent “VIVA HINDS”, which will hit platforms and shops on 6 September through the British label Lucky Number, and which plays with textures that can take us from the most poisoned dreampop to the most vaporous shoegaze, but without losing sight of the round, almost mantric melodies that the Madrid duo handles so well.
After the explosive ‘Coffee’, ‘Boom Boom Back’ (with the illustrious collaboration of Beck) and ‘En Forma’ (the first Hinds song composed entirely in Spanish), which served as the first previews of the sonic universe of ‘VIVA HINDS’, the last two singles on the album submerge us in a more relaxed and romantic cadence.
This was evident in ‘Superstar’, which they presented a few weeks ago and where they reflected on the sudden disappearance of people who were important in their lives, and now they sing of love without the need to be reciprocated in this ‘The Bed, The Room, The Rain and You’. This is how they talk about it:
‘This song represents the constant search for love, like a quiet and peaceful place, a temple. It’s a love song that has nothing to do with actually being with the other person, or even being reciprocated. It’s about the comfort you feel when you think of them, when you imagine them smiling after a funny joke or listening to a song they would like’.
The song, which like the entire album was recorded in rural France, was produced by Pete Robertson (Beabadoobee), mixed by GRAMMY winner Caesar Edmunds (The Killers, Wet Leg), and includes a collaboration with Grian Chatten of Fontaines D.C., as well as the well-known collaboration with Beck.
