NIGO debuts his first UK exhibition at London’s Design Museum

The Design Museum in London has announced one of its most anticipated exhibitions: “NIGO: From Japan with Love.” This will be the first show in the United Kingdom dedicated to the influential Japanese designer and creative director NIGO. Running from 1 May to 4 October 2026, the exhibition will offer an intimate look at his career. Visitors will be able to trace his evolution — from his beginnings in Harajuku to his current role as Artistic Director of KENZO.

NIGO is best known as the founder of the iconic brand A Bathing Ape (BAPE), established in the 1990s. His work has left a profound mark on the history of streetwear and contemporary fashion. Throughout his career, he has redefined the relationship between urban culture, music, and luxury, establishing himself as one of the most influential figures in global design.

NIGO: From Japan with Love

The exhibition, “NIGO: From Japan with Love“, will showcase the designer’s many creative facets. It will explore his visual universe, design philosophy, and unique way of blending diverse cultural references. Visitors will discover pieces from his personal collection of vintage clothing and Americana, reflecting both his creative process and passion for collecting.

The exhibition will also highlight the network of collaborators and friends who have accompanied NIGO throughout his career, illustrating how his collective vision has shaped trends and movements that transcend fashion.

With this retrospective — the first outside Japan — the Design Museum celebrates the influence of a creator who has successfully bridged East and West, and the classic with the contemporary.
