To commemorate its 40th anniversary, Marc Jacobs is launching an iconic piece that encapsulates the essence of the brand: a contemporary reinterpretation of the legendary Superman Sweater, born in the 90s. This time, the collaboration comes from NIGO, the Japanese designer who has been revolutionising the urban fashion scene for the past decade. The creative has fused the nostalgic and avant-garde vision of both worlds.
The jumper, which originally debuted in a men’s line in the 1990s, returns with a luxe update. Retaining its vibrant blue hue, the new version is crafted in a premium blend of alpaca and wool, offering a soft, elevated feel. The iconic Superman shield continues to dominate the front, while Marc Jacobs lettering adorns the back as a nod to the past.
The synergy between Jacobs and NIGO is not new. Their first collaboration dates back to 2005 with the iconic Millionaire sunglasses for Louis Vuitton, alongside Pharrell Williams. This special edition Superman Sweater joins a series of archival pieces reinvented by Marc Jacobs to celebrate its anniversary. Recently, the label also teamed up with Cactus Plant Flea Market to reimagine another classic: the 1985 Smiley Sweater.
Don’t miss the opportunity to get your hands on this unique piece at the official Marc Jacobs Japan shop.
