The union of Moncler and Mercedes-Benz finds its maximum expression in this collaboration that transcends the limits of fashion. Through the Moncler Genius platform, NIGO has succeeded in creating a visual and conceptual dialogue between the past and the future. In his own words: ‘I always refer to the past. In Japan, there is a saying: Learn from the past to create something new’.
The collection was presented for the first time in Shanghai last year, but it was in New York, the city that served as the inspiration for this project, that it was officially unveiled to the public. Thus, the Big Apple, with its vibrant mix of cultures and the birthplace of hip-hop, becomes the perfect setting for a proposal that delves into the visual archives of Moncler and Mercedes-Benz, reinterpreting its essence with a twist clearly influenced by the New York aesthetics of the 80s and 90s.
The project, led by NIGO, stands as an unprecedented visual and sensory experience. The new creations fuse the style of Moncler with the visual power of Mercedes-Benz, and incorporate the cultural richness of the cultural and artistic movement born in the Bronx, giving rise to an exquisite bridge between eras and styles born from the in-depth research and critical eye of the Japanese on the past.
Standout pieces include varsity jackets, hoodies, checked shirts and a jacket in washed denim. In addition, a Moncler jumper pops through the automotive brand’s three-pointed star, while the French house’s heritage typography adds an extra layer of modern nostalgia.
