A federal court in New York ruled that StockX sold 37 pairs of counterfeit sneakers, four of which went to Nike investigators and 33 to an external buyer, Roy Kim. Kim had purchased the Air Jordan 1s with the intention of reselling them, but discovered they were fake after verifying their authenticity on other platforms.

The court dismissed the remainder of Nike’s claims, which included trademark infringement, unfair competition, and false advertising. StockX also saw all of its claims against Nike dismissed. The parties were set to resolve the remaining matters at a trial scheduled between June and November 2025.

StockX highlighted that it invests in verification systems to prevent counterfeits and stands behind every product sold with its buyer guarantee. The company noted that the products involved represent just 0.0004% of the 17.8 million Nike sneakers it reviewed during the litigation, and that it has prevented over $80 million worth of suspected counterfeit sneakers from being sold since 2016.

On 29 August, Nike and StockX confirmed the final resolution of the case in a joint statement. “Nike and StockX are pleased to have resolved this lawsuit amicably. The specific terms of the agreement will remain confidential,” they stated.
