It was an open secret. For months there has been speculation that the Dunk High “Varsity Maize” would return home for Christmas. And so it is. The original colorway – with a black leather base and yellow layers – was previously released in 2012 and is part of an iconic design for the University of Iowa in 1985.
It first made its debut in 1985 as part of Nike’s “Be True to Your School” package to represent the University of Iowa Hawkeyes. In addition, this Dunk’s striking blend of black and yellow was also used in Dunk High’s legendary “Wu-Tang” in 1999 and in a Dunk High release in 2012. However, this pair is the most faithful to the original remake to date.
It is rumored that the “Varsity Maize” will be available for Christmas, some dare to set it for next December 9th. Although this date has not yet been confirmed by Nike, we do know that the Dunk “Varsity Maize” will be sold through Nike SNKRS for 100 euros.
