Nike F.C. launches ‘Accelerator Program’ for equality in sport

Nike has partnered with Football Victoria to announce the new Nike FC Accelerator Programme, a new initiative designed to drive gender equality in sports while inspiring the next generation of athletes.

Nike has taken another step towards gender equality in sports by partnering with Football Victoria to launch the Nike F.C. Accelerator Program. This innovative initiative not only champions equality, but also serves as a catalyst to inspire the next generation of athletes. As the spotlight shines on the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, Nike’s new programme is set to revolutionise the women’s sports scene.

At the heart of this programme is a commitment to nurturing the talents of female athletes. Anchored in the new home of the Matildas, the Nike FC Accelerator Programme embarks on a four-year journey to empower, elevate and nurture the aspirations of female athletes. By investing in certified training programmes, the initiative seeks to boost not only skills development, but also leadership among women in sport.

An important facet of the programme is its emphasis on improving coaching education. This includes providing opportunities for existing female coaches to upgrade their licenses, thus enriching the pool of competent coaches. These efforts extend to showcasing female coaches through Nike channels, amplifying their voices and expertise.

The success of the programme is already evident in the notable increase in C-licensed female coaches in Victoria, a direct result of Nike’s strategic investment in coaching education. As a testament to its effectiveness, this month will see the graduation of 30 more coaches, bringing the number of accredited female coaches in the region to 600.

Another key element of the programme is making world-class facilities and resources accessible. This includes granting the Nike Football Community, comprising thousands of women and young girls from across Victoria, access to the facilities at Matilda’s Home. Nike F.C.’s dedicated launch stands as a symbol of empowerment and encouragement for these aspiring athletes.

Furthermore, this partnership underscores Nike’s broader dedication to grassroots community initiatives. By expanding access to sport and play for children across Australia, including organisations such as the Fitzroy Lions Soccer Club, Helping Hoops, the National Aboriginal Sporting Chance Academy (NASCA) and the Dylan Alcott Foundation, Nike contributes to a holistic approach to sport development.

Nike once again teams up with Supreme to offer a new version of the iconic Air Force 1 Low in ‘Baroque Brown’.
