The Nike x Jacquemus Spring 2024 collection includes womenswear and unisex apparel, a new J Force 1 and a brand new accessory, the Le Swoosh bag.

From the beginning, Nike and Jacquemus collaborations have celebrated all facets, nuances and ever-evolving dimensions of what it means to be a contemporary athlete. The Nike x Jacquemus Spring 2024 collection, which is no exception, reinforces the belief that sport is not just about performance, but also an expansion of style and self.

For Simon Porte Jacquemus, sport has a fluid relationship with style. Jacquemus, his namesake brand, first collaborated with Nike in the summer of 2022, mixing elevated silhouettes with sporty ready-to-wear for a debut collection inspired by vintage Nike ACG and 90s campaigns. More recent collaborations, such as the 2023 J Force 1 – inspired in part by the Air Force 1, an icon of both performance and style – seem as fit for an art museum as they do for the world on foot.

Femininity. Being true to oneself. Connection with nature. Performance. Speed. These concepts are woven throughout the latest Nike x Jacquemus Spring 2024 collection, which encompasses six women’s pieces: a unisex T-shirt, hoodie and sweatpants with laser-cut Swoosh prints; a premium brown nubuck update of the J Force 1; and the pièce de resistance: Le Swoosh Bag, the first time Nike’s iconic Swoosh has been imagined on a handbag and also the first Nike x Jacquemus accessory.

“At the end of 2020, when we started working on Le Swoosh bag, I was obsessed with the Swoosh itself. It’s a unique logo, I wanted to reinterpret it and make it minimalistic and put it at the centre,” says Simon Porte Jacquemus. “Also, I always like to work with unique shapes when it comes to bags and not just think about their utility. I wanted an accessory that represents Nike in its purest form: the iconic Swoosh. To me, the Swoosh is the ultimate Nike logo that transcends all generations and all collections over the years and decades.

For their Spring 2024 campaign, Nike and Jacquemus have enlisted world champion athlete, Olympic hopeful, Nike athlete and one of the most stylish and fastest women in the world, Sha’Carri Richardson. She not only embodies the collection and serves as the muse for the campaign, but also represents the dimensions and depth of an athlete who constantly faces her fiercest and most constant competition: herself.

“Fashion is very personal and I use it to express myself: it can show how you feel, your mood, your creativity. From the colours you wear to the risks you take, fashion can be an outlet to show the world a little bit of who you are,” says Sha’Carri. “And that’s why I’m inspired by Simon’s collection; the pieces are bold and stylish at the same time and inspire me to continue to show myself as I am, while hopefully inspiring others to do the same.”
