Ibiza once again demonstrated that its cultural DNA continues to beat at the forefront of global trends. On 2 August, the island hosted a new edition of NIKOLOCOTRÓN, the annual event created by the Lexa communications agency to celebrate the birthday of its founder, Alex Nikolov. What began as an intimate gathering of creators has now become a contemporary liturgy where art, music, fashion and a queer narrative converge and are projected to the world.
The event, already established in the creative scene’s calendar as one of the essential rituals of summer, brought together a constellation of key names from the national and international circuit, sealing its status as a platform where experimental glamour and dissident authenticity find their natural space.
The day began at Malecón, the rooftop of the conceptual Cubanito hotel, an enclave where the horizon was tinged with Caribbean neon lights and music served as a common language. Dangerous Rose opened the sunset soundtrack with a selection of sinuous and warm beats, a prelude to Yung Beef’s set, who surprised the audience with an appearance that already belongs to the viral imagination: his transformation into a drag queen, a gesture of aesthetic liberation and a challenge to gender narratives that broke all previous expectations.
The artist’s metamorphosis was not only a visual statement—with meticulous makeup, an XXL wig and sculptural styling—but also a cultural statement that underlined the role of drag as a cross-cutting creative force, capable of uniting urban music, performance art and political discourse on the same plane. On social media, videos of the moment quickly became shared archive pieces, multiplying the event’s reach beyond the island.
With Drag Queen as its leitmotif, NIKOLOCOTRÓN shone thanks to styles that fused camp, club kid and haute couture. Among the figures who elevated the visual code of the night were Alex Moli, Pol Gago, Oriol Pàmies —founder of Queer Destinations—, Adrián Camisón, Evan Woods, and Alex Nikolov himself, host and architect of the Lexa universe. The first part of the event was supported by Estrella Damm, 1800 Tequila, and Vicio, who backed this event promoting diversity, music, and queer culture.
As night fell, the experience moved to Amnesia Ibiza, the clubbing temple that hosted a new edition of XTRA the Party, co-founded by Chloe Caillet, Ana Sting and the Lexa team, in collaboration with Caótica —the radical project by international DJ Toccororo— and Club Stamina, the London phenomenon founded by Mina Galán. The line-up was a sonic journey that explored trans power and rhythmic diversity: Engalanan, Fukcnormal, Olvido, Dangerous Rose, Mina Galán and Toccororo wove a hybrid tapestry that oscillated between slowed-down Latin rhythms, dizzying techno and mutant reggaeton.
NIKOLOCOTRÓN once again demonstrated that its drawing power transcends scenes. Among those in attendance were figures such as Yasmine Finney, Tyron Dylan, Arón Piper, Miranda Makaroff, Elizabeth Cambage, Alex de la Croix, MSNina, Eva de Haus, Isadora Cruz, Nico Freijo and Jon Kortajarena, all protagonists of a spontaneous photocall that combined the ironic with the sublime.
Beyond the party, this edition reaffirms that Ibiza is not just about hedonism: it is a laboratory where the future of visual, sound and queer culture is negotiated. And in that conversation, NIKOLOCOTRÓN is an essential chapter in the construction of the contemporary archive.
