NIMPH delves into the Middle Ages and its contrasts with ‘The Silver Thread’

NIMPH presented its new collection “THE SILVER THREAD”, the sixth chapter of the brand. The fashion show took place in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, outside the 080 programme, in David Haro’s (@de.ac.te) warehouse, which became the scene of an almost ritualistic act of NIMPH’s evolution, in which he presented a collection whose fundamental inspiration is the medieval period and its contrasts.

With the Middle Ages as a utopian setting, the collection explores its contrasts and duality: light and darkness; earth and metal; nature and urbanity; purity and sin. Reality and fantasy are blurred and blend into the popular imaginary of tales of princesses, fantastic creatures, spells, curses and witches. The fantasy and reality we are talking about are separated by a very fine thread. A practically invisible, but also irrefutable connection between two worlds interwoven through an unbreakable “Silver Thread”.

Patty Mañá, at the helm of the brand’s creative direction, explores in “The Silver Thread” the lights and shadows of the Middle Ages, as well as its symbolism and different architectural and ornamental elements. Since its inception, NIMPH has been committed to sustainable forms of production. The fabrics for this collection were sourced from deadstock, specifically through the Recovo platform, which connects designers with producers who wish to dispose of surplus production fabrics.

Thus, in this NIMPH CHAPTER 06, modernity was juxtaposed with medieval times; elegance with relaxed looks; and semi-transparent and elegant fabrics with the rigidity of armour made from plates – in collaboration with Sofía Valencia – or ordinary fabrics such as tracksuit fleece.

The set design consisted of a white papier-mâché “portal” presiding over the room, designed by Indra Zabala and Jou Massana, and surrounded by a white salt labyrinth drawn on the floor by artist Jodie Chinn, through which the models gently strolled.
